The Village: Mural

A commission to design, paint, and project manage an outdoor mural for The Village, a co-working, community and event space in Auckland, New Zealand.

The mural embodies the notion of contemporary congregation and vibrant community that is The Village.

Created through original illustrations, the design took inspiration from stain-glass windows, particularly those seen in buildings around the Ponsonby and Herne Bay area The Village is situated in, as well as Henri Matisse’s Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence on the French Riviera. The concrete bricks in the wall guided the design process, with a colour palette reflecting the unique design elements and colours of The Village.

The mural creates an outdoor extension to the already vibrant interiors of the building and a new uplifting oasis for members and guests to gather and socialise in.
