RUBY
RUBY is an eminent fashion label from Aotearoa. Best known and loved for its mutually nourishing relationship with its community and the way its designs embody those who wear them.
Part of the Planning and Buying team working across different business functions to support RUBY’s product and business strategy. Helping to execute the planning strategy which ultimately aims to intuitively process data to present the correct product to the relevant market at the right time; in doing so maximising gross profitability.
Work included:
Planning
Using historical reporting and forecast processes to set buy plans, and monitor collection development to ensure buy plans are being filled correctly, in particular around RUBY basics along with seasonal product
Additionally using planning mechanisms to guide pricing, store and online merchandising, and stock levels and allocation
Product stock, faulty product, and pricing data accuracy
Working on functions such as the Open to Buy, Costings, Category Planner, Aged Stock, and ERP/IMS system change over
Liaising between production and stock teams to manage accuracy and progress to support this
Third Party product category management
Developing a well curated edit of complementary external product options
Placing orders to align with purchases targets and monitoring sell through
Managing supplier communications, payment negotiations and logistics to get product delivered to RUBY HQ
Overseeing shipping and product from delivery to store including QC process
Liam Patterns category management
Overseeing the entire printed clothing patterns and sewing accessories category from product development through to merchandise planning, sales and marketing and business development
Initiated ‘Operation Haute off the Press’, a circular initiative with NZME where all Liam Patterns became printed on wastepaper from the end of newspaper print rolls from NZME’s print production of The New Zealand Herald

Managing first carbon emission reporting for the company through Mindful Fashion and EKOS to support further Toi Toi certification

Managing sourcing, supplier relationships, product development, and stock holding.

Weekly product reallocation executed to ensure the right stock is sitting in the right branch, supporting merchandising strategy and peak sale periods.
